Charis Youth Center has an opening for an overnight Residential Counselor. Through your dedication and compassion, you will provide direct care and supervision of our challenged youth by implementing safety and security practices, maintaining housekeeping standards, and preparing meals. This is a very rewarding position offering the right person an opportunity to create a stable and caring environment for our teens and mentor them as they learn appropriate life skills. You will model proper behavior through communication and example. Paid training is provided by our dedicated staff.
Requirements:
- A valid CA driver license and DMV printout
- Fingerprint clearance
- At least 21 years of age
- Sixty college units or an AA/AS degree
- A physical and TB test will be provided
- Ability to perform job duties awake and alert throughout the night and morning hours
Applicants must meet one of the following:
BA or BS Degree
Valid Child Development Teaching Permit
Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development or Foster Kinship Care Education and have a minimum of 100 hours experience working with youth
Valid certificate as an Alcohol or Drug Counselor with a minimum of 100 hours experience working with youth
Valid vocational training certificate and have a minimum of 100 hours experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor or other relevant experience
Previously been employed as a full time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, Short Term Residential Treatment Program, or substance abuse program for at least one year
