Residential
The Residential Treatment RCL 12 and 14 Programs provide 12 to 18 month care and treatment to emotionally-challenged youth. Youth referred to the program generally have histories of multiple placement failure. Referrals come from Departments of Mental Health, Probation Departments, Social Services, and Departments of Education throughout California. Youth placed in the program receive individualized treatment consisting of a structured behavioral plan implemented by residential counselors and mental health workers. The residential program is goal driven and outcome-based for maximizing skills and progress. In addition, Mental Health services are provided through individual, group, and family therapy by licensed social workers and mental health staff. Ongoing medical, dental, hearing, and eye treatment, as well as periodic psychiatric and psychological evaluations, are available for each youth. The objective of the program is to prepare the youth to return to either a less-restrictive environment or a home setting.
Charis provides a wide variety of outside activities for the youth. These activities include: hiking, picnicking, swimming, bicycling, fishing, camping, skiing, roller skating, ropes course, bowling, spectator sports, children's theaters, movies, and more. The youth also experience cultural enrichment activities such as concerts, arts and crafts exhibits, and community events.
